Summary:

This five-day course covers the theory and design of the digital and RF sections of wireless communication systems. The digital sections include speech compression, error correction, modulation, and multiple access. The RF sections include the transmitter and receiver of both mobile units and infrastructure.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completing the course, the participant will be able to:

• Describe the block diagram of a wireless communication system.
• Explain speech compression and error correction.
• List and explain digital modulation and multiple access techniques.
• Describe the block diagrams of a wireless RF transmitter and receiver.
• Explain how the RF components of a transmitter and receiver work.
• Calculate a system link budget.
